Azure Files: Moving Shared Storage to the Cloud

We are converting our On-Prem shared departmental storage to Azure Files. This has many of the same benefits of Azure virtual servers without the server itself. Azure Files is just pure storage. All of the access permissions for each directory can be kept intact when converting to Azure Files and drive mappings can also be maintained as long as DNS is being used for the path instead of the IP address. OneDrive Known Folder Move(KFM)

We are in the process of converting all of our Faculty and Staff from local "Folder Redirection" to OneDrive KFM. This will provide many advantages and is definitely a win-win for all of us. Moving away from an aging local server to the cloud, user's data available from anywhere, making use of our free 1TB of data per user that is included with our O365 license.
